5 Reasons You Need a Mommy and Me Photoshoot

Every Post, Photog Blog

Imagine this. You’re dressed up in a corresponding outfit with your child taking pictures in a studio or out at the park. What could be a more fun and bonding experience for you and your child? Today, I’ll be giving you 5 reasons you need a mommy and me photoshoot.

Bonding Time- the first reason that a mommy and me photoshoot is a good idea is that this will be a great opportunity for you and your child to bond with each other. Picture this, you could wear matching or corresponding outfits, take some photos and then even go out to eat afterward. It’ll be a great way to spend time with each other especially if your child’s getting older and ready to leave the nest soon. This could also be something fun to do with the little ones as well.

Memories- I am a big believer in taking photos with your family so that you can have memories for when everyone gets older. Especially for your kids who will have kids of their own one day and want to share pictures of their childhood with their new families. Doing a photoshoot like this one will allow you to create those memories with your child.

Mother’s Day Gift- The next reason you should do a mommy and me photoshoot is that it could make the perfect mother’s day gift. If you’re the father and want to plan something nice for your wife or the mother of your child, it would be a great gift to have the mother get all dressed up, take them out for brunch, and then to this photoshoot. They would have a great day and get to have some pictures of them with their child as a gift. Another option is if you’re the mother in this situation and want to get your mother (the grandmother of your child) a gift you could plan this photoshoot and get the pictures delivered to them as a Mother’s Day gift.

Redo Photoshoot-This next reason that you should do a mommy and me photoshoot will probably pull at your heartstrings. in the picture for this post the mother wanted to redo a picture pose she did with her son when he was a baby of them laying down and holding hands. the reason I told you this is to give you another idea of what could happen for your mommy and me photoshoot. You would be able to recreate certain pictures you took when your child was younger or if they are already young or you don’t have any pictures of you together you’ll be able to make one and years later recreate it.

Birthday Gift- the last reason you should do a mommy and me photoshoot is that just like using the photo shoot as a Mother’s Day present or surprise you could do the same for the mother’s birthday. This would be a great idea for a mother who maybe hasn’t gotten a lot of time to spend with her kids in a little while. You could start the day with the mother getting her hair, make-up, and nails done. Then you would drop off her and the child or children at the photoshoot locations. After taking pictures with the kid(s) the family could go out to dinner together as a family. What could be a better way to spend your birthday with your family? And you would get pictures from the occasion as well to keep for years to come.

I hope this article has inspired you to do a Mommy and Me Photoshoot session. Tell me the last time you did a photoshoot like this in the comment section. I’ll see you all next week.

7 Photos All Parents Need of Their Kids

Photog Blog

I’ve always believed that parents should get professional pictures taken of their kids to keep in a photo album so that when they grow up they could have memories to look back on and share with their future family. That’s why I’ve made this list of 7 photos all parents need of their kids.

Newborn- These photos will be great to look back on once your kids are all grown up. It’ll remind you of the days when they were small enough to carry in your arms. Newborn photos are important not just for the parent’s nostalgia but also so that the kids can see what they looked like as a child and share them with their friends or spouse in the future. These photos can be taken within the first two weeks of the child’s birth or if you need a little more epitome to adjust to parenthood, they can be taken a few months after you welcome them to the world.

First Birthday- It’s a huge milestone when a baby makes it to the age of one. So huge that it should be celebrated and remembered! What better way to celebrate and remember your kid’s first birthday than with a photoshoot? This will once again be good for you and your child to look back on through the years. I recommend a cake smash as part of your photo shoot for babies at this age.

Kindergarten Graduation- This is another important milestone for your child. Their first graduation! Grab a small cap and gown for your child and prepare to get them some pictures of this moment. This will also be a good throwback picture for them in the future.

Sweet Sixteen- While Birthday pictures at any age are highly encouraged, sweet sixteen pictures are one of the most popular. Go ahead and celebrate them with a photoshoot that they can share with their friends and family or even use on their birthday invitations for a birthday party. This type of photoshoot can be very fun for the teen because they can pick the type of theme they want and express their style.

Prom- Every high school student who wants to go to prom should have prom pictures whether they’re taken by a professional or on your cell phone. This is a moment your child will probably want to remember and it might be one of the few times you’ll get to see them all dressed up. If you do go with a professional photographer, which I obviously recommend, be sure to have them capture your child and their friend group or date at a nice park. Some photographers offer this as part of their senior pictures package deal so be sure to ask if that’s an option for your child.

Senior Photos- Senior pictures are another big part of your child’s senior year besides prom. They should definitely get senior pictures done to celebrate their achievement of graduating high school, to use as invitations for their high school graduation cards, and or just for memories of what their high school days were like.

College Graduation- Just like when you’re child graduated high school, if they’ve decided to further their education at college, you should definitely have senior pictures of them taken celebrating their success at completing college. These photos once again can be used as pictures for graduation invitations, and to help them remember their college days.

That’s my list of 7 photos all parents need of their kids. Can you think of any I’ve left out? Comment below and let me know. I’ll see everyone next week!

6 Birthday Photoshoot Themes For Guys

Photog Blog

Name a better way to celebrate your birthday besides a photoshoot. I’ll wait. You can’t can you? Last week, I gave you all 6 birthday photoshoot themes for the ladies. So, this week, it’s only right that I give you 6 photoshoot themes for guys.

The King/Prince- This theme would be for the guys who want to look like a prince or king. Picture this, you’re dressed up in your finest clothes, maybe even a fancy robe and a crown. You’re sitting on a throne, inside the photo studio, posing for pictures, and you might even have a bottle of champagne in one hand if you’re of age. This theme can be perfect to show off any cool outfits that you have but haven’t found the right occasion to wear it out.

All Business- This next theme is for the guy who likes to dress up in business professional or business casual attire. This would be good for both indoor and outdoor shoots. With an outdoor shoot, you probably want to take some pictures downtown. City shots in suits always go nice together. If you’re indoors you will probably want nice char to sit in and pose with. There could be a chance in the studio to do some cool lighting effects with your favorite color as well.

TV/Movie- Just like I said with the girls, this is a fun theme, especially for a movie or TV fan. With this theme, you will dress up like your favorite character from any television show or movie. This could also be a great time to cosplay if you’re a fellow anime lover. This theme allows you to be creative and show off some of your personality. A good example of this is would be to dress up like Will Smith from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air if that was your favorite show or you could dress up like Asta from Black Clover if you wanted to dress up as a fictional character that you love.

Sports- This is a theme for sports fans. If you play a sport or have a favorite sports team then this is the photoshoot theme for you. Imagine wearing your favorite football jersey, and holding the Heisman pose while throwing a football out on a green football field or in an indoor studio. What could be better? Maybe a pose of you dunking like Jordan in a jersey and shorts with a basketball in your hand? The poses and opportunities are endless. The good thing about this theme is that you could do multiple sports, wear a jersey for a team that you are currently playing on or wear a jersey for one of your favorite professional teams.

The Fashion Mogul- If you’re usually the best looking or best dressed in your friend group then this is probably the theme for you. In this theme, you would dress up in your coolest outfits and show them off either in the studio with different set decorations and lighting tricks or outdoors out in the town or a park. The point of this look is to show off your outfit and your fashion sense. You might even want some number balloons to show off how old you’re turning in the background.

Decades- Our final theme was also on the list for the ladies and is another great option. If you like dressing up in clothing from different decades then this one is for you. For this theme you would dress up in clothing from the decade you were born. You would also need a set design that looked like it was from that decade as well. For example, if you were born in the ’90s you’ll probably want some baggy jeans and a loose colorful shirt. You might even want to invest in some number balloons that show what year you were born.

Thanks for reading my list of 6 birthday photoshoot themes and I hope it’s helped you come up with an idea for your next birthday photoshoot. If you’d like to book one with me be sure to go to the contact page and reach out! See you all next week.

6 Birthday Photoshoot Themes for Ladies

Photog Blog

It’s almost your birthday and you want to do a birthday shoot to commemorate the special occasion but what should the theme be? I get asked a lot about ideas for birthday photoshoots that aren’t basic which is why I put together this list of 6 birthday photoshoot themes for ladies. Onto the first theme!

The Queen/Princess- This is a fun and cute theme that I see a lot of ladies going for today. With this theme you would want to dress in some of your fanciest attire, we’re talking a nice dress, some heels (or sneakers if you’re like me and can’t walk in heels so you wear sneakers with dresses lol), maybe some fancy gloves, and a crown or tiara. If it is shot indoors you’ll want your photographer to have a throne for you to sit in and maybe a balloon arc if you’re very fancy. If you’re outdoors you may want to take these pictures somewhere in a garden or if you live in Cincinnati the Loveland castle. The point of this theme would be to showcase you as the queen or princess that you are.

Number Balloons- Our second theme has also become very popular in recent years but I’ve put a little twist on it so that it isn’t basic. You’ll need to get number balloons to match the age that you’ll be turning. you’ll want to dress up in your favorite outfit, it can be dressy or more casual, the choice is yours. Some people like to have extra balloons in the background too so that the scene looks more festive. For this theme, you can have the balloons in the back while popping a bottle of champagne if you’re of age. Another option is to have confetti falling while you pose with the number balloons. If you’re looking for something to showcase your personality you can use a hobby you do to add personality to your pictures. For example, if you play volleyball you might want a picture of you spiking the ball with the balloons in the background, or if you roller-skate you might want a picture of you rolling around with the balloons in your hand. There are a lot of different possibilities.

Champagne and Cake- Once again this idea is for those who are of age. In this theme, you will be mimicking a cake smash photoshoot like toddlers do but with a fun twist…you get to have a bottle or glass of wine or champagne with you to enjoy. This type of session is usually done in a photography studio so you have a backdrop behind you and maybe some balloons or other decorations. You might want to go with a color theme to match the color of the cake. Some ladies like to dress up for this shoot while others dress more childlike in a tutu to mimic their younger years.

Movie / Television Theme- This is a fun theme, especially for a movie or TV buff. If you have a favorite television show, movie, or character from a movie or television show then this might be the perfect theme for you. For example, maybe you like the show Grownish and int to dress like the min character Zoey or maybe you love Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. Both of these are characters you could dress up as for your photoshoot. If you’re into Anime this would be a perfect time to cosplay as your favorite character.

The Goddess- For this shoot, you would dress up in one of your most glamorous outfits and have a prop headpiece to go along with it. It would be a good shoot for both outdoors and indoors. The point is to have you dressed up like a goddess and looking like a million bucks. For this shoot, you may want to be outside in a park or garden-like mother nature or you might want to be in a studio with some cloud props. Just look to old greek mythology pictures for inspiration!

Decades- This last theme is for those who love dressing up in different styles from different decades. For this theme, you would dress up in clothing from the year you were born. You would also have a set design that would look like it was from that time period as well. For example, if you’re born in the 80s, you’ll probably wear some bright and colorful clothing like neon leggings, or a blouse with padded shoulders, big hair, and maybe even some props like a boom box. You also might want some balloons to show the year you were born in the background.

I hope this list of 6 birthday photoshoot themes for ladies, has given you an idea for your next birthday photoshoot. If you’d like to book one with me be sure to go to the contact page and reach out! See you all next week.
